White Water Lily or White Lotus (Nymphaea alba) is native to Europe. It's beauty on a sunny day inspired Claude Monet to paint The White Water Lilies. This lovely aquatic grows in ponds, lakes and rivers. The flowers have a calming effect on the nervous system and have been used to treat insomnia and anxiety. There is also record of this plant having been used to treat coughs and for sore throats.
White Lily can be prepared as tea with approx. 5g per cup or as a traditional Egyptian drink where the flowers (5g) can be soaked in wine for several hours to enable the release of active alcaloids. White Lily tea is mostly appreciated for it's relaxing harmonising effects.
