Damiana (Turnera diffusa var. aphrodisiaca) grows natively in Mexico, Caribbean and in Namibia. Damiana is believed to have been used by ancient Maya as an aphrodisiac. Traditionally in herbal medicine Damiana is used as a strengthening remedy for the nervous system, stimulant, natural aphrodisiac, diuretic and antidepressant. Damiana leaves also helps calm anxiety and remedy menstrual irregularities. Food and beverage flavorings can be derived from it's leaves but it stays mostly popular due to it's claimed varied medicinal uses and natural aphrodisiac qualities.
